If
a person has red splotches, pimples, rashes and inflammation,
the make-up may be to blame. A close look at the ingredients
may be all that is needed to find out if the make-up is
toxic. Since make-up is worn all day long, the exposure
to its ingredients is prolonged.
Conventional
make-up contains artificial colors, dyes, pigments, and
preservatives known to cause toxic side effects. While companies
that manufacture mass market cosmetics argue that the amounts
of toxins present are too small to be a problem, many medical
experts are unconvinced. For instance, cosmetics often include
parabens, an anti-fungal agent that can cause irritation.
